The third episode of the Xiqu Seminar Series will feature Hong Kong’s leading Cantonese opera performer and advocator Law Ka-ying as well as acclaimed Jingju artist and Plum Blossom Grand Prize winner Shang Changrong, who is also the Chairman of the China Theatre Association.

The system of 'Hang Dang' (Role Categories) is an arrangement of characters, primarily divided according to the characters' gender, characteristic, age and status. Today, the division is combined as five major types: Sheng (male role), Dan (female role), Jing (painted face), Mo (old men) and Chou (clown), with each 'hang dang' has a unique way of singing. In the coming xiqu seminar, the two masters will share their success stories and experiences on various role categories. You will surely be enlightened by their inspirational dialogues even you are not a Xiqu fan.
