WKCDA Senior Management’s Debut at Legislative Council Meeting
The West Kowloon Cultural District Authority’s senior management team, led by CEO Mr Graham Sheffield, attended for the first time, a meeting of Legislative Council’s Joint Subcommittee to Monitor the Implementation of the West Kowloon Cultural District Project on 20 September. Mr Sheffield introduced the latest developments of the West Kowloon Cultural District project and gathered views from the Committee members. Representatives from the three master-planning teams also attended the meeting and introduced their respective conceptual plan options.
During the meeting, Mr Sheffield expressed the team’s vision of making the WKCD a world-class hub for arts, culture and entertainment. Apart from developing the hardware facilities, the Authority will also focus on arts education development, young artists nurturing and audience building.
Representatives from the three Conceptual Plan Consultants agreed that it is feasible to select one of the plans and incorporate individual features from the other two options. In such a scenario the three Conceptual Plan Consultants will need to communicate and coordinate well so that the concepts will integrate nicely. Also, the representatives reassured that the future WKCD will have enough public space and facilities for the Hong Kong people to enjoy.
Apart from Mr Sheffield, representatives of the Authority attending the meeting included Mr Louis Yu Kwok-lit, Performing Arts Policy and Management Services Executive Director, and Dr Chan Man-wai, Project Delivery Executive Director.
