Over 13,000 Visitors Recorded for Roving Exhibition
Keen Response to Public Forums and Guided Tours
More than 13,000 visitors have been recorded for the West Kowloon Cultural District Stage 2 Public Engagement exercise exhibition held at the Hong Kong Conventional and Exhibition Centre, as of August 29. Public forums and guided tours organised to give the public and stakeholders an in-depth insight into the three Conceptual Plan Options were at one time completely booked and extra ones were needed to accommodate interested parties.
Since the unveiling of the Stage 2 Public Engagement exercise on August 20, the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (the Authority) has organised a number of forums for the public and the stakeholders including professional groups (urban development, information & communications technology and green groups) and arts groups in Hong Kong. Over 900 stakeholders and members of the public participated in these forums. Public forum participants were most concerned about the environmental-friendliness of the plans, construction cost, proportion of residential land use and transportation of the District. Representatives from the three Conceptual Plan Consultants responded to their questions and listened to their views carefully so that they can build a West Kowloon Cultural District that truly belongs to Hong Kong. Some participants also filled in the questionnaires to give more detailed views after the forums concluded.
Guided tours for the public and stakeholders have also been arranged in which the visions and features of the three conceptual plans were explained in depth. Participants’ questions focused on master plans’ layout, linkage to the community and planning concepts. Interactive 3D models were most appealing to them. Different sectors of the community including consuls-general in Hong Kong, Legislative Council members, Yau Tsim Mong district councilors, arts and cultural groups, professionals in the fields of architecture, planning and engineering and organisations for the disabled joined the guided tours.
